Společnost VDL Bus & Coach zvítězila v náročné soutěži o prestižní titul ‘International Coach of the Year 2012’. Během norského testování v rámci ‘Coach Euro Test 2011’ byla vybrána Futura (BUSportál: uváděli jsme jako New Futura) jako vítěz v silné konkurenci. Důraz při posuzování byl kladen na celkovou koncepci, specielně pak na praktičnost, zpracování a účinnost.
Porota ‘Coach of the Year 2012’ zahrnuje novináře z 19 evropských zemí (BUSportál: bohužel žádného z České republiky). Porota uznala Futuru jako autokar účinný, vysoce efektivní co do nákladů, s atraktivním designem, vysokou úrovní komfortu pro cestující, optimálním pohonem a dobrým poměrem cena/kvalita. Porota ocenila New Futuru odděleně za jednoduchost použití. To v kombinaci s kvalitním výkonem na silnici a odpovídajícím pohonem s převodovkou AS Tronic má za výsledek vynikající jízdní komfort. Autokar je unikátně lehký s příslušným benefitem ve spotřebě. S dvěma nápravami a délkou 12.9 m může přepravit až 57 cestujících s maximálním zatížením zavazadel v mezinárodním měřítku.
New Futura společnosti VDL Bus & Coach byla představena v září 2010. Jméno Futura má ve společnosti dlouhou historii. Je po desetiletí synonymem pro efektivní, zákaznicky orientovaný koncept výrobku.

Coach of the Year 2012
The ‘Coach of the Year 2012’ jury included professional journalists from 19 European countries. They saw the VDL Futura foremost as an efficient, highly cost-effective coach with an attractive design, high level of passenger comfort (due in part to the completely flat floor), an optimal driveline and a good price/quality ratio.
The professional jury particularly praised the New Futura for its ease-of-use. They commended the brief time required for a driver to become comfortable with the vehicle. This, combined with the fine on-the-road performance and a well-matched driveline featuring a smooth shifting AS Tronic transmission, resulted in excellent ride comfort. With its small turning radius the Futura also scored highly in terms of manoeuvrability. A unique aspect of the 2-axle Futura is its low kerb weight, which is not only of tremendous benefit in terms of fuel economy but also enables the 12.9-metre length variant to carry up to 57 passengers within the maximum weight legislation for international traffic. The spacious, ergonomically designed driver’s area with its state-of-the-art automotive dashboard and pleasant, harmonious, well-finished interior were also praised.
Not surprisingly, Rémi Henkemans, managing director of VDL Bus & Coach, is very proud of the New Futura and his team: “The fact that we can now boast both the title ‘International Bus of the Year 2011’ for the Citea and ‘International Coach of the Year 2012’ for the Futura shows that we rank among Europe’s top manufacturers. The New Futura from VDL Bus & Coach was introduced in September 2010. The Futura name has a long history within VDL Bus & Coach. It has stood for an efficient, customer-oriented product concept for decades.
The New Futura was developed on the basis of a long history of success and naturally also meets the diverse range of expectations placed on progressive coaches today. With the various length versions, engines, interior configurations and optional details, we can meet the customer’s individual wishes. The flexible modular construction makes it possible to custom-tailor the vehicle variants to every operating area.
The basic models are 2-axle high deck coaches with lengths of 12.2 and 12.9 metres available with various seating configurations that provide space for up to 57 passengers. A trio of 3-axle Futura models with lengths of 13.1 to 14.8 metres round off the series.
