Nový autokar VDL New Futura byl poprvé v České republice představen společností VDL Bus & Coach Czech Republic s.r.o. 28. a 29. března 2011 v Dačicích za velkého zájmu českých a slovenských dopravců. Kromě novinky VDL New Futura byla představena i Futura Classic, inovovaný autokar léta populární jako Bova Futura. U 12,20m a 12,70 m verzí, ve kterých bude "klasická" Futura nadále vyráběna, je zachováno i původní označení a logo. Společnost VDL ukončila výrobu modelů Bova Magiq a Berkhof Axial v rámci reorganizace, jejímž cílem je zefektivnit výrobu a pod jednotnou značkou VDL vyrábět celou unifikovanou řadu autobusů modulární konstrukce. Zákazník si může nyní vybírat z celé rozsáhlé produktové řady autobusů New Futura ve všech rozměrech od 12, 2m až po 14,8 m v provedení HD ( 3,7m) , HDH (3,8m ) a Double-Decker s různým počtem náprav a širokým výběrem motorů DAF Euro 5 i EEV řady PR o objemu 9,2 l a výkonu 265 – 300 kW a DAF MX 340 o objemu 12,9 l s výkonem 340 kW .
Předváděcí vůz New Futura délky 12,9 m s motorem o výkonu 340 kW byl jedním z prvních vyrobených kusů a je určen je pouze pro testování a zkušební jízdy po Evropě. První jízda s plně obsazeným autobusem na úzkých silnicích v okolí Dačic byla zajímavou zkušeností jak z pohledu řidiče, tak i cestujícího. Ke komfortu ovládání přispívá dvanáctistupňová převodovka ZF AS Tronic s řadícím automatem. Řídící jednotka vyhodnocuje povahu a složitost terénu a reaguje na chování řidiče, řazení je tak plynulé a přesné ve všech režimech. Udržuje motor v optimálních otáčkách, což má vliv nejen na plynulost jízdy, ale také na spotřebu. Příjemná je nízká hladina vnitřního hluku i při větších rychlostech, přispívá k tomu mimořádně tichý chod motoru a nové izolační materiály použité při stavbě karoserie.
Jak uvedl mj. zástupce VDL Bus & Coach Czech Republic Pavel Schlosser, průměrná spotřeba New Futury je přibližně 25 l . Celková váha vozidla je snížena o 200 kg oproti původním modelům. Cena autobusu s délkou 12,2 m s obsaditelností 49 +1+1 je 217 000 až 220 000 Euro, u autobusů s délkou 12, 9 m je nutné počítat s cenou o něco vyšší, zde cena začíná od 225 000 Euro. Ceny jsou pouze orientační, vždy záleží na dodatečné specifikaci vybavení. Prodejce eviduje ke dni výstavy šest objednávek na VDL New Futura v různých variantách. Nové vozidlo se cenou neliší od svých předchůdců. Použitím unifikovaných modulárních systému při stavbě dochází ke snížení počtu vzájemně se lišících dílů. New Futuru si vyzkoušela i Linda Wothová ze společností Zářecký Bus z Ústí nad Orlicí.

Crowd-puller Futura FHD2
The new FHD2 model of the Futura, a 2 and 3-axle version of which were on display, proved to be a real magnet for the visitors, who enjoyed a personal and professional presentation about the advantages of this new model. Not only the modern design but also the modern technology and equipment, including a range of seat variants from Basic Class 100 through to Premium Class 300 and Luxus Class 500, proved very popular. During a test ride, visitors were able to experience the driving characteristics of the 2 and 3-axle versions, for themselves. Alongside the VDL Futura FHD2, the Synergy double-decker, the Citea (Bus of the Year 2011), the Ambassador and the MidCity were all available for extensive test drives.
VDL Bus Center: all makes – all models
Nonetheless, attention was not exclusively reserved for the latest models. Managing Director Ferdinand Brouwers, Burkhard Gieffers, General Manager of the German subsidiary, and the entire VDL Bus Center team were on hand to present public transport buses and coaches from all the leading manufacturers, and were delighted with the levels of interest shown. At the same time, they notified all visitors of the name change from VDL Coach & Bus Center and VDL Centre Bus & Car (VDL CBC) to VDL Bus Center, and introduced the new company logo.
Summary
"A successful weekend”, was the final judgement of Silke Tödter, director VDL Bus & Coach Deutschland. The delightful weather guaranteed a pleasant atmosphere, and that in turn boosted the visitors’ buying behaviour. Supplies
Turnover at the supplies division rose considerably from €427 million in 2009 to €737 million in 2010. This 73% rise in turnover is mainly due to the recovery in the semi-conductor market, the market for solar energy and LED lighting, and the automotive industry. The order portfolio is currently well filled, and clearly increasing: from €272 million at the end of 2009 to €296 million in week 8 of 2011. For 2011, VDL expects turnover at the supplies division to continue to rise further. The result of the supplies division showed a profit for the year.
Buses
The bus and coach division is still suffering from the crisis. Turnover fell by 10% from €473 million in 2009 to €427 million in 2010. The number of touring coaches and public transport buses delivered did however rise from 1,114 in 2009 to 1,430 in 2010. The number of mini and midi buses rose from 207 to 232. The number of delivered chassis fell from 1,215 to 980. Despite a rise in the number of buses delivered, turnover fell due to a change in product mix. The order portfolio is showing improvement, from €154 million at the end of 2010 to €256 million in week 8 of 2011. In 2010, the bus and coach division showed a slightly negative result. VDL is positive for the remainder of 2011.
Finished products
Turnover in the finished products division rose by 12% from €263 million in 2009 to 294 million at the end of 2010. Among the markets showing improvement were air suspension systems and agricultural systems. Nonetheless, turnover is not yet back at the pre-crisis level. The order portfolio is slightly up from €132 million at the end of 2010 to €142 million in week 8 of 2011. The finished products division’s result was overall positive. VDL expects true recovery by the companies in this division in the second six months of 2011.
Expectations for 2011
For 2011, further growth is expected. Although the crisis is not yet over in all sectors, the prospects seem positive. It is anticipated that the consolidated turnover will rise to €1.5 billion. The result will amount to approx. €85 million.

Předváděcí vůz New Futura délky 12,9 m s motorem o výkonu 340 kW byl jedním z prvních vyrobených kusů a je určen je pouze pro testování a zkušební jízdy po Evropě. 19. a 20. března se za jarního počasí uskutečnilo setkání autobusových dopravců zdaleka široka v německém Bürenu. Stávající i noví zákazníci přijeli z Německa a okolních zemí a dokonce i z Litvy a Rumunska. 2010 excellent year for VDL Groep
Following the crisis year 2009, 2010 turned out to be a year of recovery for VDL Groep in Eindhoven, with excellent results. The combined turnover rose by 25% from €1.162 billion in 2009 to €1.458 billion 2010. The consolidated turnover in 2010 will be approximately €1.3 billion, compared to €1.058 billion in 2009. The result after taxes was €76.6 million, compared to the meagre €18 million in 2009. This makes 2010 the second best year ever in the history of the VDL Groep. The number of employees also rose from 6,113 at the end of 2009 to 7,126 at the end of 2010.Supplies
