518 městských autobusů Citea CLF 120-310 je největší objednávkou v historii VDL Groep. Dodávky startují ve druhém čtvrtletí 2009, poslední autobusy budou dodány v prvním pololetí 2010.

Objednávka pro VDL Bus & Coach je částí tendru RTA. Ten zahrnoval tři typy autobusů: 778 městských autobusů, 121 kloubových a 717 patrových autobusů. 518 ze 778 městských autobusů dodá VDL Bus & Coach.

Vysoce moderní, nízkospotřebový a lehký 12 m městský autobus Citea CLF s motorem DAF je velmi vhodný pro zatížený systém veřejné dopravy v Dubaji. Nízkopodlažní autobus je vhodný pro hendikepované občany. Autobusy mají troje dveře ovladatelné cestujícími a specielní klimatizaci. Klimatizace spolu s vzduchovou clonou nade dveřmi podobnou cloně u vchodů do nákupních center udržují teplotu v autobuse. Obsaditelnost vozu je 68 (z toho 33 sedících) cestujících. Kabina řidiče je oddělena skleněnou přepážkou. Přední část určená pro ženy a děti je oddělena od zadní také skleněnou přepážkou. Autobusy jsou vybaveny informačním systémem pro cestující a monitorujícím systémem v reálném čase a automatickým odbavením.

RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) zodpovídá za organizování veřejné dopravy v Emirátu Dubaj. Využívá autobusy, metro a námořní dopravu.

Mega order for VDL Bus & Coach in Dubai

The Dubai based company RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) has placed an order for 518 city buses with VDL Bus & Coach. The bus concerned is the Citea CLF 120-310. This mega order is the largest in the history of the VDL Groep. The Citeas will be made in VDL Bus & Coach’s production companies and deliveries will start from the second quarter of 2009. The last Citeas will be delivered during the first six months of 2010.

Call for tenders

The order for VDL Bus & Coach is part of a tender put out by RTA. The tender comprised a request for three types of buses: 778 city buses, 121 articulated buses and 717 doubledeckers. VDL Bus & Coach will supply 518 of the 778 city buses. Of all the suppliers, VDL Bus & Coach secured the order with the largest number of buses.

Citea CLF

The highly modern, low-energy and lightweight city bus Citea CLF, which has a length of 12 metres, is extremely suitable for the busy public transport system of Dubai. Thanks to the low floor, the bus is also easily accessible for disabled passengers. The ultramodern buses have three passenger doors (1+2+2 door arrangement) which can be operated by the passengers. Because of the hot climate in Dubai, the buses are equipped with special tropical air-conditioning. This heavy-duty air-conditioning system combined with the air curtains above the doors, more or less similar to the air curtains at the entrance of shopping centres, ensures an comfortable temperature inside the bus. The Citeas have a DAF engine and can carry 68 (33 seated) passengers. The driver’s cabin is separated from the rest of the bus by a glass partition. Another special feature is the lay-out of the bus: in the front there is a space for women and children, separated from the rest of the bus by another glass partition. In addition, the buses are fully equipped with state of the art passenger information systems, a real time vehicle monitoring system and automated fare collection.

RTA

The Citeas were bought by RTA (Roads and Transport Authority). RTA is responsible for the planning and realisation of public transport in the Emirate of Dubai. Swaidan Trading/Al Naboodah

For the delivery of the Citeas, VDL Bus & Coach will be assisted by the distributor Swaidan Trading. Besides buses, Swaidan Trading also imports cars, pick-up trucks, fork-lift trucks, cranes, tyres and products for the agricultural industry. This company is part of the Dubai based Al Naboodah Group. Al Naboodah was founded in 1958 and has since then expanded through takeovers and various partnerships. Today, Al Naboodah employs over 45,000 people. The company is active in construction, manufacturing, trading and investments. With its activities, it wishes to make a significant contribution to the future of Dubai.
