BUSportál: Autobusových a autokarových titulů je velmi mnoho, ocenění vozidlům jsou udělována i v rámci jednotlivých států. Za nejprestižnější by se daly považovat dva: "Coach of the Year" - v kategorii autokarů, který je vyhlašován v roce veletrhu v Kortrijku a "Bus of the Year" v kategorii autobusů vyhlašovaný v roce IAA v Hannoveru. BUSportál se domnívá, že podle rukopisu karosérie je vozidlo z dílny karosáře dřívější značky Jonckheere - po spojení karosářů do skupiny VDL jsou původní značky karosářů potlačeny. Bohužel autobus Citea zatím nenajdeme u žádného českého dopravce.

Konkurenty Citey byly: Mercedes-Benz Citaro EEV, Otokar Kent 290 LF, TEMSA Avenue a Volvo 7700 Hybrid.

Společnost VDL Bus & Coach získala ocenění ‘Bus of the Year 2011’ se svým nízkopodlažním autobusem Citea Low Floor. Během 'Bus Euro Test 2010' v rumunské Bukurešti zvítězil nad svými mezinárodními soupeři. Členové poroty věnovali pozornost praktickému využití, dotažení, koncepci a účinnosti zúčastněných vozidel.

Porota ‘Bus of the Year 2011’ sestávala z odborných novinářů z 19 evropských zemí. VDL Citea je inovativní nízkopodlažní autobus s lehkou konstrukcí, výbornou přepravní kapacitou, nízkou spotřebou paliva, nízkými emisemi a nízkými náklady na údržbu.

Od uvedení Citey na 'UITP Mobility and City Transport Exhibition 2007' v Helsinkách Helsinki, VDL Bus & Coach obdržela mnoho objednávek, např. od RTA (Road and Transport Authority) v Dubaji v roce 2008 na více než 518 autobusů nebo od TEC (Transport en Commun) v Belgii na 217 vozidel v letošním roce.

VDL Citea is 'Bus of the Year 2011'

With the Citea Low Floor public transport bus, VDL Bus & Coach has won the prestigious international ‘Bus of the Year 2011’ award. During the 'Bus Euro Test 2010' in the Romanian capital Bucharest, the city bus from the Netherlands scored better than its strong international rivals. The members of the jury paid particular attention to the practical usability, the finish, the concept and the efficiency of the participating vehicles.

The jury of ‘Bus of the Year 2011’ consists of trade journalists from 19 European countries. They see the Citea above all as a well balanced, harmonious bus for city transport that performs admirably on all aspects. The bus provides the passengers with every comfort, and the driving characteristics are of high quality.

The VDL Citea is an innovative low-floor city bus. The lightweight construction offers excellent carrying capacity, saves on fuel and reduces emissions. The repair and maintenance-friendly construction of this low-floor bus reduces workshop times. The impressive international sales figures confirm the advanced design of the Citea city bus.

Since the introduction of the Citea during the 'UITP Mobility and City Transport Exhibition 2007' in Helsinki, VDL Bus & Coach has secured a large number of orders for this newcomer. These include two notable ones: the RTA (Road and Transport Authority) in Dubai placed an order in the autumn of 2008 for no fewer than 518 Citea city buses. This order, worth millions, is the largest single order in the history of VDL Groep. The order from the Belgian company of TEC (Transport en Commun) for 217 Citeas, dating from March of this year, is currently causing a high degree of capacity utilisation in the factories. TEC opted for the Citea CLF, which is 12 metres long and has an EEV engine. These low-floor buses will be deployed in four cities and regions.
