Táto otázka padla počas debaty o budúcich scenároch cestnej dopravy pri zahájení konferencie “Road Transport futures 2030 initiative", ktorú v Bruseli organizoval ETRAC (European Road Transport Research Advisory Council).

"V roku 2030 tu budú nové technológie, viac pozornosti na ich udržateľnosť, ale určite neprídeme o potrebu cestovať," povedal Manuel Battista, moderátor World Highways.

Hodnotiac rôzne správy, profesor Mike McDonald, bývalý dlhoročný riaditeľ Transportation Research Group na univerzite v Southamptone, povedal, že dopravný sektor potrebuje zmenu kvôli väčšiemu uvedomovaniu si klimatických zmien, neistote z cien a dostupnosti energií, neistým ekonomickým podmienkam, populačným zmenám a očakávaniam zákazníkov. Inými slovami, profesor McDonald povedal, že biznis už nie je taký, akým býval.

How will Europeans travel in 2030? The question was posed in a debate on future scenarios of road transport during the launch of the “Road Transport futures 2030 initiative”, organised in Brussels by ETRAC (European Road Transport Research Advisory Council).

In 2030 there will be new technologies, more attention to sustainability, but we will certainly not eradicate the need to travel, said the moderator Manuel Battista, of World Highways, Route One Publishing.
